Sustainable Living
So while I was still looking for a job (before my amazing one now) in late winter, I became addicted to Martha Stewart. I know, I know…it was crazy. But she did say one thing that really resonated with me. She was talking about growing fruits and vegetables…inside! At first I didn’t think this was possible, but when I realized what it meant, I got really excited. I looked up all the different kinds of dwarf fruit trees- perfect for growing inside. There was everything from apricots to pears to kiwis, etc. Martha suggested a lemon or lime tree…so I got a meyer lemon. She said it was practically fool proof! So when I got my lemon tree and it was doing great, I decided I wanted to get all sorts of plants. I currently have a bell pepper plantarium, and tiny strawberry and mint plants. But the lemon tree did not go as well as Martha said it would! However, with a lot of pruning it’s doing a lot better…most of the problems were my overwatering and it also fought off aphids and slugs. I’ll post a picture soon.
